Summit County has a unique high alpine climate that can change at a moments notice. At such a high altitude the mountain towns of Summit County carry a dry feel, which makes even the cold days not seem so cold.

The average snowfall in this area per year is about 300 inches. In the winter the temperature ranges from 28-35F with an average summertime temperature of 65-75F.

The coldest month in Summit County is January and the warmest month is July. Nevertheless, Summit County mountain towns have been known for the unpredictable weather with snow falling in July.

The mountain towns of Breckenridge, Keystone, Dillon, Silverthorne, Frisco and Copper Mountain which encompass the majority of Summit County, have beautiful summer biking and hiking weather with over 300 days of sunshine a year.

The summer months carry an occasional afternoon rain shower that lasts a few hours leaving numerous rainbows and a refreshing smell in the air.

Colorado ski areas are known for their crisp clean powder that is light and fluffy making every turn more enjoyable than the last.
